What is the Product Replacement Plan?

The Product Replacement Plan (PRP) is an extra service GameStop provides to our customers when they are buying their hardware systems (console and/or handheld devices). This service provides extended assurance above and beyond the manufacturer’s warranty. New video game console purchases that include a Product Replacement Plan (PRP) at the time of purchase in the same transaction are eligible for a one-time new console replacement. Restrictions apply. Refurbished video game console purchases that include a Product Replacement Plan (PRP) at the time of purchase in the same transaction are eligible for a one-time refurbished console replacement. Restrictions apply.This agreement will cover any electronic breakdown but will not cover breakdown due to physical damage to the hardware. This guarantee can be purchased for any new or used hardware system.

How does the Product Replacement Plan work?

If your system is defective due to normal use and has been covered with a Product Replacement Plan then it can be exchanged one time within a 12-month period. We do not service the systems so you don’t have to wait – you get a replacement on the spot!

You can go to any GameStop or GameStop location to complete your transaction. An original receipt for the hardware purchased must be presented indicating that a Product Replacement Plan has been purchased for that hardware – identified through the serial number.

All systems must be returned complete in their original packaging with all applicable manuals.

How much is the 1 year Product Replacement Plan?

  • $5 for systems between $1-49.99
  • $15 for systems between $50-99.99
  • $25 for systems between $100-149.99
  • $35 for systems between $150-199.99
  • $45 for systems between $200-249.99
  • $55 for systems between $250-299.99
  • $65 for systems between $300-349.99
  • $80 for systems between $350-399.99

Is the Product Replacement Plan available online?

At this time, the Product Replacement Plan is available only in-store.


Pre-ordering products for in-store pickup is fast and easy. First, ensure you’re logged in on gamestop.ca, and simply add eligible pre-orders to your shopping cart using the "Add to Cart" button. In your shopping cart, click on the "Pre-order online & pickup in-store" button to continue. A $5 deposit is required to ensure your product is reserved for you in-store. Please be aware that regular in-stock merchandise are not eligible for pickup in-store.

You’ll need to select an GameStop store where you’ll pickup your order. You can do this by using the map feature at the checkout and searching by city, store address, or postal code. Once your order is placed, you cannot change your selected store. You will receive an order confirmation by email and a call from the store once your product arrives. At that time, you’ll be required to pay the balance of your order at the store.

If you would like to cancel your pre-order, please visit the store that you directed the order to. An associate will be more than glad to assist you with the refund.

Please note that your order details will not be visible to the associates at your pick-up location immediately. Details will be sent within 24 hours of placing your order.

Please note: This is a digital product. The product will be delivered in the form of a redeemable code which will be viewable on the "My Order" page.


All orders for Digital products are manually checked by our team prior to approval. If your order is placed outside of normal office hours (Monday to Friday), this may delay processing of your order.


Please note: Digital products are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged once the order has been processed.
